First post

Let me begin this first post by saying that I'm still a little in shock that I'm actually talking about myself being pregnant. After nearly 14 years of marriage, several years of fertility treatments, and adopting a beautiful son, I just didn't think this would happen.
My first, and official, due date is Jan 13, 2009. The baby has actually measured a little further along than this date since the first ultrasound, but only by about 4 days...which isn't enough of a difference to change the due date.
We are so very excited and feel so blessed. We've been doubly blessed....we have a wonderful son, Walker, who was 5 in May and now we have another baby on the way.
We were quite content with having just Walker. Didn't think pregnancy was even a possibility, especially at this point in our lives.
So, here's the scoop on the pregnancy thus far:
Because of a personal history of borderline diabetes and a family history of diabetes, the doctor had me begin testing my blood sugar at 7 weeks. 2 weeks later I returned for a check up and was referred to a high-risk group to determine what treatment needed to be done since my levels were elevated. They admitted me to the hospital to begin insulin. I was there for just 2 days, thank goodness, and it's be going fine since. They've had to make 1 minor adjustment to my insulin and I'm seeing the high-risk group weekly for now.
I'll be seeing my regular OB and the high-risk group on Monday, June 30.....I will let you know how it goes.
On top of all that's going on with being pregnant, my dear husband, Randy, has been offered a wonderful career opportunity back in Chattanooga! So, in July we are moving back to our hometown! With that means I'm having to change doctors.....this, I've found, is quite a pain due to the high-risk issues....just a few more hoops to jump through. :)

I'm really looking forward to my OB appointment on Monday....can't wait to see the baby again! I will be sure to update frequently!
